Evony Opens 100th Server

Evony has recently announced the opening of their 100th server dedicated to a full world of multiplayer fantasy war.  If you haven’t had the pleasure of checking out the FREE multiplayer excitement that comes with running your own kingdom, then now is the perfect opportunity to join in the fun.

Right off the bat you’ll be named the lord of your own kingdom.  The goal is to build up cottages for your citizens to live; farms, lumbermills, iron mines, and quarrys for your citens to work; and other city improvements to make your city the best place to live.  Of course, that includes walls for defence and barracks for training troops, as what fun would a multiplayer kingdom game be with out some war?  From archerers to swordsmen to scouts to catapults, the twelve unit types play out like an advanced game of rock-paper-sissors with all units having strengths and weaknesses.  And depending on how strong your hero leading the army is, the effectiveness of your army changes.  And it is always more satisfying to take a fully loaded city than it is to take the time to build ten of your own.

The biggest draw is a good alliance system where newer players can receive help from their fellow alliancemates (up to 100 in an alliance) to help them get their feet wet.  Additionally a good alliance can reinforce your cities when your eagle flahes red – meaning an attack is on the way.  Your alliance host can and should enter friendly status with other alliances to strengthen both alliances.  And if you are charasmatic and hae a knack for leadership, you can start your own alliance to dominate the world.  I strongly reccommend joining a good alliance as well as following the well plotted quests until you get a strong hold on the game.

As I mentioned, the game is free, however you can buy game coins that allow you to purchase upgrades to speed up production, or reward your heroes, or increase the speed at which your troops are made – or even free troops!  But don’t fret if you are broke, you can still get these items by using the daily “amulet” (awarded simply for logging in) whih entitles you to a spin on the Wheel of Fortune for a free item ranging from resources to the sought after Michelangelo’s Script.  So even if you are broke, you have a chance.

And if you do join, check me out on server 5 as cwh008 – a leading member of the #2 ranked Avalon alliance.  Good luck!

Monday Night Raw at MSG

The WWE held Monday Night Raw at New York’s Madison Square Garden tonight and overall the show went down pretty well for a pre-PPV Raw.  The main event featured a triple-threat tag match between Degeneration X, Jeri-Show, and the team of The Undertaker and John Cena.  The match had a ton of face-on-face stare downs and was definately meant to have big spots instead of solid bell to bell action.  Pretty slow match.  Highlights were a “everyone hits their finisher” finale seeing John Cena getting a pin over Triple H.  After the bell, in an odd move, Taker then gave the Tombstone to Cena.  Not sure what the point of this was, other to then have Taker (making his first appearance on Raw in about a year) go out with his music and get the final on-screen pop from the fans.

The best segment of the night was host Rowdy Roddy Piper calling out Vince McMahon only to have Randy Orton answer his calling.  No match took place as once RKO started the beatdown on Piper, Kofi Kingston came to his rescue and had a great spot jumping from the fan rail onto a prone Orton on the announcer’s table, smashing the table in two.  Good segment leading to the PPV survivor match.

In an odd angle of the night, DX invited Hornswaggle out to the ring after weeks of the tiny guy stealing their gimic.  They seemed to be embracing the tiny guy until Triple H decided to give him a pedigree.  WTF?
